The Clinical Data Analyst position plays a critical role in aggregating, cleaning and automating data practices within the Clinical Affairs Division (CAD) and across NACHC. The Analyst will be responsible for evaluating data sets, mapping data elements and maintaining these mappings as NACHC builds an organization-wide data dictionary. The successful candidate will have the ability to understand an manipulate clinical data including that from established terminologies in clinical care, organize information into a standard format for analysis, separate and improve, where possible, low-quality data, and perform analytics and statistical analyses.

 The candidate will work with community health center and federal partners to further define and improve data sets of importance to NACHC and its partners. Experience with clinical data is strongly preferred. Experience with harmonizing data sets and metrics is ideal. Ability to communicate data to non-technical audiences is needed, as is the ability to manage across multiple projects and teams. Ideal candidate has familiarity with Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources, clinical quality measures, clinical data warehouses and terminologies including SNOMED-CT, LOINC, RxNorm, ICD-10, and CPT among others. This professional will work with the Informatics team to build data systems and infrastructure to support a unified data model and cloud-based data warehouse.  The successful candidate must have ability to work in an Agile team and good organizational skills.

 Specific Duties:

 

Data Analytics:

  • Work closely with Informatics leadership and CAD teams to build, map, and communicate a data dictionary to help streamline, standardize, and align data aggregation work
  • Develop analytics dashboards and create and maintain ongoing metrics for NACHC and its partner organizations
  • Identify missing and low-quality data within data sets and address with cleaning or other statistical methods
  • Coordinate with CAD program leads to incorporate additional data sets
  • Work with engineers to automate analytics, data maintenance and mappings

 

Data Dictionary Development and Harmonization:

  • Develop a streamlined infrastructure for incorporating and documenting data elements for inclusion in the NACHC Data Dictionary
  • Assist informatics team in mapping and transforming data to the standard Data Dictionary format
  • Perform environmental scans of existing or similar data sets and suggest maps or transformations for alignment
  • Assist with project data strategies and harmonization for implementation
  • Manage the NACHC Data Dictionary and help engineers and informatics team to build infrastructure to maintain and improve it
  • Work with Project leads to develop data summaries

 

Required Qualifications:

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred in data or information science, statistics, or related fields

 

Experience/Ability/Knowledge:

  • 2+ years of relevant experience performing data analysis and management
  • 2 + years with visualization (Tableau)
  • Experience and understanding of HRSA BPHC UDS data set
  • Experience with Human Centered Design and agile development
  • Previous experience working with structured clinical data strongly preferred
  • Experience in data mapping and cleaning strongly preferred
  • Experience in harmonizing data sets preferred
  • Strong interpersonal relationship building skills
  • Must be able to balance multiple deadlines and deliver on time or early
  • Must have demonstrated attention to detail
  • Proficiency using statistical software such as SAS, SPSS, AWS analytics or similar
  • Knowledge of clinical terminologies including SNOMED-CT, LOINC, RxNorm, ICD-10, and CPT
  • Knowledge of clinical standards including FHIR and clinical data models such as OMOP or QDM a plus
